Our Team

Stocknomics' team brings together more than a quarter century of pioneering research and experience in computer-learning technology and applies it to creating predictive models of complex systems.

Ioannis Demetriades (President and CEO)

President and CEO, Ioannis Demetriades founded Stocknomics in 2002 on the premise that emergent machine-learning technologies would provide a sustainable breakthrough to the "efficient market hypothesis." Ioannis has successfully combined his skills in engineering, advanced mathematics, and computer programming with education in business to build complex machine-learning models targeting equity trading.

Ioannis possesses significant international business expertise in setting up and managing large organizations. He spent three years at Align Technology Inc., where, as the country manager for Pakistan, he was responsible for growing the company's presence from 40 to 700 people in less than one year. Ioannis' leadership made Align Pakistan's largest Information Technology employer and the first organization to provide international call center services in the country. Prior to Align, Ioannis acquired extensive modeling and programming experience developing a demand forecasting tool for a manufacturing unit, an optimization tool based on genetic algorithms for academic use, and a real-estate appraisal neural network system for a commercial bank.

Ioannis holds a Masters in Business Administration from MIT's Sloan School of Management with a concentration in Information Technology and Business Transformation where he was a Latsis Fellow and a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University.

Alexandros Kyriakides

Alexandros assumes the dual role of software engineer and research scientist for Stocknomics. Alexandros is responsible for designing and overseeing the development of Stocknomics' real-time predictive capability as he possesses significant experience in addressing difficult optimization problems and tough software development tasks. Additionally, Alexandros oversees the refinement of Stocknomics' predictive propriatery algorithmic technology.

Prior to Stocknomics, Alexandros worked with Open Ratings as a research scientist and a software engineer on projects involving text mining and machine learning.

Alexandros holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Cyprus. While pursuing his PhD, Alexandros worked as a researcher at the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks. His PhD thesis work focused around the development of a bio-inspired noise-robust speech recognition system. Alexandros holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, and a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT he was a member of the Center for Biological and Computational Learning with a focus on machine learning. His MIT work led to a supervised information retrieval system for news articles. Alexandros has represented Cyprus in two International Olympiads in Informatics and in two Balkan Olympiads, where he was awarded a bronze medal. Alexandros is a strong proponent of free and open source software.

Andrew Novo
